Dr. Fred Perkins is Chief Medical Officer, Founder, Epilepsy Program Director & Associate Professor Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Christus Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. Fred is board certified in psychiatry and neurology, with special qualifications in child neurology. He has been a practicing epileptologist since 2005 and has worked extensively on neurosurgery teams. Fred has now taken the role in San Antonio, TX to build a top-level program in a historically under-served area to both expand reach and offer more effective care through harnessing innovative diagnostics and treatments. Fred has a long history of research, both as a principal investigator and as a co/sub-investigator on 26 grants. He is actively involved in research around advanced neurosurgery techniques and with neurophysiology and neuroimaging, including multi-modal imaging techniques and machine learning. In addition to his current position, Fred has held director-level clinical positions for many years, successfully building neurology and epilepsy programs at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis, Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, and Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. His previous faculty appointments include the University of Tennessee Medical School, the University of Texas Medical School, and the University of Arkansa Medical School. Fred is also a retired Air Force Captain and Flight Surgeon. Now, along with two other founders, he has launched NeuroMedPro, LLC and serves as the company’s Chief Medical Officer.
